About

“Music is this weird amalgam of some kind of crazy elixir that heals all wounds. It’s this strange thing that unifies everybody all at once. But at the same time speaks only to you. Alone”

– Chris Ender Carrabba

Music, though I am by no means an expert, takes up a significant chunk of my life. I wake up to music. I need to play music while I’m taking a shower, getting ready for work, driving recklessly half-awake to work, sitting idly at my desk pretending to work, when I’m cursing through traffic on my drive back home, at the gym or running in the park. Even as I watch TV or walk through a store, I’m paying attention to the music in the background. Uh, I guess by now you get my drift.

It is also no secret to those closest to me that I like to think of my life as one great big movie. As such, no movie would be complete, or as epic, without its soundtrack.  I have often wondered what songs would make the cut. Which songs have perfectly captured those occasions of insane happiness, acute agony, internal speculation and all the other moments in between. Truth is, there are just too many to count. Every day would have a different song. So over the next year or so, I have decided to keep track of these songs. For what purpose? Well, as a girl that is constantly self evaluating and reinventing herself, this is just a simple attempt to look at my life from a different angle, using a medium that has figuratively and literally played a large role in my life.

As you read, I hope that you will in turn ask yourself this same question… if your life had a soundtrack, what songs would play?
